Diane is ‘almost’ 58 years old and has been generally
active, though not overly athletic throughout her life-time.
Working full-time as a hospital-based health professional has kept
her ‘on the go’ but in addition, she usually walks daily,
swims and goes through ‘stages’ where she works out
at a community fitness club.
For as long as she would like to remember, Evelyn has always been
‘tired and in pain’.
Although only 44 years old, she often feels like an old lady and
has days when she feels she will not be able to continue living
like this.
Maggie
is a 50-year-old woman who works in a factory, enjoys swimming,
skiing and walking her dog.
One day she was cleaning out the garage, moving boxes and equipment
and also lifting heavy objects overhead. She developed severe back
pain the next day.
Maggie went to her doctor and was told she had a muscular strain.
She was prescribed anti-inflammatory medication, was told to rest,
and stay off work for a few days.
